Do i need to use the network's tax id number?
No. You keep your Tax ID number. We are all about your independence and everything we do is focused on allowing you to preserve it.
Do I need to accept all the insurance plans the group contracts with?
No. We respect the privacy and autonomy of every pediatrician. You have the option to pick the plans you would like to accept in your office.
Does the network do my billing?
No, but we do help you if you are not getting the fee schedule that the network is contracted for. We ask that your billing manager conduct a simple audit every three months, and if something is not correct call us and we will do the negotiations.
Do you help us get group discounts with suppliers?
Yes. With the power and the strength of a pediatrics specific network, we can get fantastic discounts on things that we use the most in our specialty.
Do i need an electronic medical records computer system?
No. We have a state-of-the-art IT team that can interface with your existing electronic billing system to obtain the information needed to negotiate with the payers.
Will i need to change my emr?
No. Our IT team can connect to any EMR system via computer language called "HL7" or "CCD", and with the cooperation of your computer IT developer.
How does the network communicate?
Via this website. You will have access to our secure membership portal where you will find a wealth of information all engineered to help the network communicate to each other and to serve as a hub for issues that can affect the network. We also have forums to inform your manager and billers of things that will affect your reimbursements.
Will there be any business opportunities as a member to invest in something?
Yes. As the network grows, we will put out business investment proposals that you, as a member, will have an option to participate in. Investing in any business opportunity will be optional, and will not affect your relationship with the network.
Have you ever had any legal issues with your business structure?
Never. The IPA Messenger Model is a non-exclusive membership association. This model meets all requirements of Federal Anti-trust laws. We have never had any legal issues with this model, and the IPA retains a Board Certified Healthcare Attorney for legal advice.
Who owns this network?
We are a "Non-Equity Membership Association", or in other words there is no equity, but a collective membership network. The easiest way to look at this is like a membership to a golf club. You pay your annual membership dues so the club can operate and in-turn you get a nice place to play golf.
Who is part of the board of directors?
The initial board is a group of board certified pediatricians that actively see patients, and have many years participating in the business side of the office. They are all experienced board members and know very well how to get things done. They have a keen eye for how to run an efficient office and understand how decisions can influence a practice's day to day operations. Only physicians are allowed to have voting rights; because the president and COO are not physicians, even though they sit on the Board, they do not have voting rights.
